This I have learned...
With such an interesting and unpredictable year, I have to admit, to my surprise, that I actually learned the most important life lessons this year. I find that my life and lifestyle is more appreciative and meaningful now because of the lessons that both COVID and online school have taught me. The most important takeaway being to never take anything for granted--even the endless hours of schoolwork or early morning school alarms. One particular thing that I will remember from this year is to always appreciate not only your closest friends but also your "school friends" because if not for school, then those close relationships would have never formed. While I never use to think twice about these concepts, I now will never be able to forget them and they'll always positively linger in the back of my mind.
The big understanding that I will take away from my entire school career as a whole is that school is meant for so much more than just the classes and endless amounts of homework, studying, group projects, etc. Before this year I don't think I truly comprehended the truth that school shapes us and more importantly, who we become, how successful we become, our work ethic, our manors, and so on. While our parents and families have a great influence on us as well, they can only do so much because if you think about it, most of us students see our peers and teachers each day more than we see our actual families. At one point of our school career within the Troy School District, I can confidently say that almost every student has at least complained once about the competitiveness of the Troy School environment. However, when we look at the bigger picture, this competitive, hard working environment is what builds the foundation of our future. Moreover, it shapes our work ethic, personality, mindset, etc. and all of these important attributes that will follow us for the rest of our lives.
In all honesty, I'm not completely sure I answered this prompt correctly, however this prompt truly made me realize the thanks I owe to school because again school teaches us all the life lessons that are the most important.
